What will it take to create true community resilience in the face of increasingly severe natural weather events that threaten our very existence?
Since the age of 25, I’ve been actively involved in the creation of hundreds of businesses across many different industries. In 2013, I left behind a successful career in commercial real estate to look after my former business partner and mother, Joan, suffered a stroke.
I now balance my time between taking care of my mother and writing, speaking and consulting on planned relocation communities that strive to be truly sustainable and resilient places to live.
The Natural Resilience Foundation
Aside from the books I’ve written, I’m also the Founder and Executive Director of The Natural Resilience Foundation, a 501c3 public charity whose main mission is to advocate for beginning the planning, design and eventual construction of sustainable and resilient communities around the world.
I became fascinated by climate resilience while working as the Chief Financial Officer for the New York Wheel project. My exploration of the topic strengthened my existing belief that we need to look at our world as an organic whole.
Our Call to Action
Planetary events operate on a different scale than our individual lives and move much slower.
The Earth is resilient.
It is humans who need to adapt to the Earth’s changing climate.
We have more than a dozen years left to our existence on this planet.
We must start preparing for some tough times ahead.
The time for action is now.
If we want to create true community resilience in the face of increasingly severe natural weather events, we need to start by examining our own lives.
We need to figure out how and where we want to live, as well as how we interact with each other and the different species on Earth.
It’s time for us to create our own awakening and transform ourselves beyond our daily lives.
It’s time for a call to action.
